On the program include M. PEREIRA Lendas Amazonicas (European premiere) for duo guitar and orchestra, G. FAURE Pavane op. 50, E. CHABRIER Suit pastorale.
Duo Siqueira Lima in collaboration with the Gävle Symphony Orchestra premieres Marco Pereira's fantastic work for duo guitar. His work Lendas Amazônicas will be performed as one of the highlights of the festival with the composer in attendance. Pereira has been inspired by the rich folk culture of the Amazon. These are themes that are recognizable as well from Brazilian opera history as from the Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos who worked with folktales as musical themes. Marco Pereira is an exquisite guitarist and composer and educator.
Cecilia Siqueira and Fernando Lima are the world's most celebrated stars on the duo guitar scene right now. With its timing, refined technique and outstanding musicianship, every concert with the Siqueira Lima Duo is an experience.
"Being recorded by Duo Siqueira Lima is like getting a passport to travel to countries I never thought I'd reach!" Guingha, Brazilian composer.
Further in the program, Faure's beloved Pavane and Chabrier's Suite Pastorale - a selection of four pieces written for piano and orchestrated by the composer himself.
Gävle Symphony Orchestra
We have the great pleasure of welcoming the Gävle Symphony Orchestra to the guitar festival and are very happy about this unique collaboration.
The Gävle Symphony Orchestra has over 100 years under its belt. Ruben Liljefors was the orchestra's first artistic director, and subsequently conductors such as Stig Westerberg and Robin Ticciati have held the role of its chief conductor. With Gävle Konserthus as its home stage, the orchestra also tours around Sweden and internationally.
The conductor for this concert is the French Chloe van Soeterstede.
