Guthrie Govan has been called the guitarist of the guitarists. When he entered the international music scene with the solo album Erotic Cakes, the eyes of the outside world were immediately fixed on the well-articulated Briton with his almost unlimited playing ability.
He captivated the audience at the Uppsala International Guitar Festival 2012, then with his band Aristocrats. Now he's back, this time with extreme virtuoso bassist Yiorgos Fakanas, responsive keyboardist Dimitris Sevdalis and supreme drummer Menios Pasialis. Together they are a sensation!
He also gives an exclusive workshop the same day before the concert!
Yiorgos Fakanas is Greece's most acclaimed bassist. He has also created music for stage performances and films and has released a long list of critically acclaimed albums, both in his own name and with others. He has collaborated with international names such as Dave Weckl, Mike Stern, Frank Gambale, Dennis Chambers, Anthony Jackson and many, many more. He is also a sought-after educator and has written no less than 18 books on bass playing and music theory. In recent years, he has played for sold-out houses, including at the Cotton Club in Tokyo, the Art Center in Seoul and the historic 55 Bar in New York.
With groups such as The Aristocrats, Asia, GPS, The Young Punx, The Fellowship, and solo projects such as Erotic Cakes, Guthrie Govan has always been in the music front line. In recent years, he has primarily collaborated with Steven Wilson, guitarist and singer in Porcupine Tree and film music composer Hans Zimmer who has made music for major films such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Gladiator, The Dark Knight trilogy, Inception, Interstellar and many more. Guthrie Govan is also one of the guitar world's most sought-after educators. In addition to clinics and workshops around the world, he is affiliated with the Brighton Institute of Modern Music.
