With his intense intense play and a rare ability to load the music with power and surprising angles, Ricardo Gallén has long belonged to the top layer of classical guitarists. It is with great pleasure that we greet him back to the Uppsala International Guitar Festival.
Ricardo Gallén is a sought-after artist worldwide. He appears as a soloist, both alone and with orchestra on scenes such as the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, the large Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow, Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, ??Auer Hall at Indiana University, Sibelius The Academy of Helsinki, among others.
Gallén is something of a specialist at Bach but also has many British composers on his repertoire: such as Walton, Berkeley, Scott and the British. He also likes to play music by Leo Brouwer who celebrates the Spanish guitarist - "just by looking at his hands, you understand the incredible creativity and virtuoso ability he possesses". He has also collaborated with a number of prominent conductors and music profiles, in addition to the mentioned Leo Brouwer also Maximiano Valdes, En Shao, Juan José Mena, Monica Huggett, Jordi Savall and legendary Seirgiu Comisiona.
Ricardo Gallén began his studies in the city of Linares north of Granada where he grew up. He is also educated at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. He is since 2009 himself a professor at the Franz Liszt University in Weimar, Germany, one of the youngest professors ever at the prestigious institution.
Don't miss one of the most prominent and interesting classical guitarists of the past decades.
He also gives several masterclasses during the festival!
